Depends what you're after.
The Jacket is an excellent psychological thriller. Four Lions is comedy gold.

Going to see Paul on Saturday. We only seem to go to the cinema about twice a year.

As is often the case, the film really doesn't do the book justice. Nowhere near in fact.

I read the book years ago and it still remains one of my all time favourites.

I've only read the book, not seen the film. Its a bit too intense for me.

Yes, 'intense' would be an accurate description!

Very well written though.

Very good writing but quite disturbing themes. I read Glamorama too, which started out well but became totally ridiculous then I gave up reading Ellis.

I've never got around to reading Glamorama, partly because I'd forgotten about it! It's something that I'd meant to pick up ages ago but it went out of my head. Thanks for reminding me about it!

As with all literature, it depends what you like I suppose but I enjoy the intensive style and graphic imagery that Ellis uses to sometimes shocking effect. I think that's one of the reasons that his writing doesn't transfer that well to film.

That's what I am struggling with in regards to american psycho. What are the themes?

I think I got:

He puts on a "mask" tto fit in with those around him.
He's just an insignificant clog in a machine.
They are all vice presidents of the same company.
