We got 18M min for Milner n 18M for Young. Spent 24M on Bent and Makoun.

Begs the question where the hell has that money.. Tv money and league finish money gone!!

The FairPlay rules a joke. Just enables the
Big clubs to dominate.

If a guy buys a club and wants to put his own money in what's the problem.

We will just be a 7-10 finish club now.

Well yes, with the champions league in the format it is has lead to a situation where there is an elite set of teams that have used that money and prestige to cement their positions at the top, under the new rules no one will be able to challenge them, its game over for most teams outside the top 4.

Don't know where the feck you're getting your information from, unless you're his accountant, I'd suggest you just wait and see until the transfer window closes to see if 'his money has dried up'. You were saying that well before last season too - and then he goes and spends 24m on one player, shattering our previous record signing by double.

Jay, I think the problem this year is the FIFA fair play rules. No one really knows how they are going to work, and Lerner certainly isn't going to get a massive sum of money to get round is ala Man City.

The evidence this season certainly seems to be we wont be spending as much money, but what can we do, Lerner cant fund us for ever and we struggle to generate the money ourselves that the likes of Spurs can etc.

The fair play rules have already been proved to be total shite with the man city stadium rename deal. Same thing will happen with other established clubs along the way and there will be a boring stalemate with the top clubs in the prem. There will be countless other ways of getting arOund the rules for the top clubs so they are a waste of time apart from stopping lesser teams breaking the mould.

Fairplay rules would mean a club like Fulham couldn't live the dream.. they wont be able to spend money and go on a UEFA cup run..

Platini has done this because all investors were looking into buying English clubs and he fcuking hates us.

Personally i cant see the fair play rule lasting long.

Got to also wonder why we are trying to comply with these rules so badly, we won't have a team good enough to qualify for europe at this rate, so the rules won't effect us anyway.

The signing of Bent in January was paid for with the Milner money and with the knowledge that Young would be sold in the summer. We paid over the odds but we needed the goals to ensure we stayed up. It wasn't a statement of intent that we would be spending big to push the squad/first team on. More importantly look at the manager farce we've just had. We haven't got a top manager because we haven't got top money. Simple as that. We've got an experienced manager who will be expected to work with a fairly small budget compared to Martin the wasteful.

Hard to believe that despite the fact we sampled the delights of a winning side packed with internationals some people still want to knock the best manager we've had in years.MoN was top drawer, his successors are certainly not in that category

He was the biggest spending manager we;ve ever had/ will ever have and he got us to 6th and a Wembley final. He did ok, not brilliantly or anything exceptional.

Just been downstairs to have a look at the latest files we hold, unfortunately don't get to see the figure paid for Bent just yet as its just the interim reports for 2011, but shows us to still be in massive debt, still losing money, and a letter from Randy Lerner confirming that he will pump another £20m of his own money into the club if needed in 2012.

Its hardly fills you with optimism that we are going to see us spend a lot of money.

What do we do? Basically, we need to trim the wage bill quite dramatically, then we can look to spend some cash again. We have average players like Beye, Warnock, Collins on 40k a week, and Dunne is probably on near on 60k, Heskey 60k, the list goes on.

Actually Dunne is on 30k Collins is on 48k, Warnock cost us over £9m in various fee's, its no wonder there not keen to let him just go, like say Sidwell who cost £5m but we sold to fulham for £250k.

Yes, I'm sure the party line is to get everyone playing who we can't move on for more than we paid. this isn't a bad thing though IMO and a couple of players who didn't play for whatever reason may be able to shine.
