Dunne and Given

Post  QBVILLA on Wed Sep 07, 2011 5:40 am

Anyone watch the Ireland game last night? All the reports on the radio are saying that Dunne and Given were immense last night.I'm a bit concerned that Given was playing on that plastic pitch last night though as he's carrying an injury.Hopefully he'll be fine for the Everton game.

I've just read the reports as well. Fingers crossed on Given.

Paul McGraths coments on Dunne's peformence.

"Richard Dunne congratulations The Best performance I have seen from any Irish centre half and that includes myself..."

High praise indeed coming from God himself.Bodes well that our players are doing well at international level.Though seeing England line up with five ex Villa players last night was a bit sickening.Luckily though the commentator was giving the credit to Liverpoo and Manure when Treacherous Stewie linked up with Ash 'Webcam Wanger' Young for the goal Mad

Didn't Dunne pick up a nasty facial injury last night?

Very Happy
I'm sure he had to have staples in his face.

It was a bit sickening to see them players playing for England, we did have three of them playing together in one season though.

Dunne apparently had some stitches in a head injury, but he went back on the pitch and carried on playing.

It's been the same for us West Ham fans for years! I saw a clip of Dunne on SSN, his face had temporary staples in it. It'll be sore this morning, I bet.

apparently Barry Bannan was MOTM for the jocks as well, maybe he will come into the reckoning for a game on Saturday, especially if Bent is out

I think Hutton was injured so didn't play last night so i'm guessing that we'll have Herd at RB.I think Jenas will come in if Bent's out though with Heskey playing up top on his own.A goal feast at Goodison this weekend? Rolling Eyes

If Bent is out then we have to play Gabby at front, he is in good form this season and has far more chance of scoring than Heskey.

No point risking Bent if he isn't fully fit.

I think McLeish will go with

...................Given.......................
Herd....Collins....Dunne.Warnock
............Petrov....Delph................
...................Jenas.......................
N'Zogbia......................Heskey....

Not a bad team at all, to face Everton without Arteta and Baines.

Our loss! Seriously. Not sure how much you've seen of Makoun QB, but I've seen him play for about 4 years during CL footy, internationals, etc. Too bad he wasn't really given a chance.

If he is that good then it's a surprise that someone else other than Olympiakos, both Man U and Chelsea were after central midfielders this summer and we were basically trying to give him away. Laughing

This translates to "I signed him on Football Manager once and he was really good." Very Happy

I've never played Football Manager. Last manager-type game I played was Championship Manager 01/02.

I didn't call him world class, just said he's a very good player on the ball. Check his performance when we played against Utd.

Jay, i'd never seen him before Villa, nor had I heard of him. However, during his brief spell whenever I saw him I couldn't say i was impressed. For me I felt more positive seeing Bannan.Plenty of classy players have failed to cut it in the Premiership, one of the reasons why i've always been puzzled by the fans obsession of getting foreign signings in.

Yeah I'd agree with that.

I was very proud of Villa when it was a stat we could have an all 11 English starting line up 2 seasons ago. Getting in foreign signings is good and all, but if they can't adapt then whats the point?
