Barry Bannan

Post  villainies on Mon Feb 06, 2012 12:44 pm

Rapidly becoming my favourite Villa player. Because of his size he needs to able to get around the pitch better than everyone else, be fitter and work harder. Assuming he can do that between now and next season I think he should play as much as possible for the rest of this season to gain confidence and experience. For me he is the best player with the ball at his feet since the other Barry and we need to bring him on.

Needs to learn to play a simple pass sometimes rather than the killer ball all the time

Yep his decision making lets him down sometimes.

Agree, he tries to play some stupid 50 yards passes that the majority of the time aren't successful. Just needs to play the simple ball. Every time I have seen him, I think he looks at his best in central midfield.

Yes, definitely in the middle. Sure, he's got a stuff to learn but I think its well within his capabilities, the more he plays the less he will go for the killer pass IMO.

Given the choice though, I would like to see Gardner given a run in the middle before Bannan and move Clark back to centre back.

To be fair to Petrov, he has been one of our better players this season and I don't think you would want a central midfield of Bannan and Gardner.

50/50 on whether Bannan can become a very good Prem player.. he certainly has a killer pass in him.. but then at times the game passes him by and he is a little lightweight too..

Gardener has more potential IMO

-------Makoun-----
---Gardner-Bannan--
N'Zogbia-----Gabby
--------Bent--------

I'd like to see McLeish give that a try.

I think Makoun and Bannan would definitely play well along each other, with Gardner linking up in attack. If not, put Ireland in Gardner's/Bannan's place.

I'd have him in there as a first choice in a 5 man midfield giving him the free role.

Makoun Gardener and Bannan are too light weight as a three.. you need a Scott Parker type to be playing behind two of them..

Makes a change for it not to be Ad's saying the most ridiculous comment on a thread anyway.
