£54.6 million

Post  villainies on Mon Mar 12, 2012 2:33 pm

Is the amount of cash MON chucked down the boghole on 11 players. affraid That's not including whatever he paid for the footballing genius that is Salifou. Can anyone name those 11 players?

Young, Milner, and Downing have got to be 3. Haven't you made about £60m by selling them? It's not MON's fault your chairman refuses to invest in the club.

Are you on the crack pipe again? Young and Milner were good signings and Downing didn't hang around long enough but they weren't money down the bogpipe like these other 11.

Suspect I worry for the youth of today.

MON spent £55m on eleven total turkeys during his time at Villa, who were they? Actually I've missed a shocker so make it £57m Mad and 12 players.

I'm not at work to look them up Very Happy

I wouldn't add Warnock tbh, he is a good LB.

Missed Beye off the list.

I couldn't disagree with you more about Warnock, he's terrible and cost over 8 million.

Fair enough on Beye, that adds like another £2m I suppose Maloney needs adding too but thats only £1m.

Warnock has had a couple of nightmare games this season but I think he is over that now and he does have quality, I can't think of anyone in the squad who would be better at LB at the moment, as proved by the Wolves game where we was on to a hiding at half time when Warnock was brought on and sure'd up our left side and gave us the attacking play down that side to push on for the win.

Some questionable prices there Jay but here's my honest summing up

Knight 5m - I think it was £3.5m. Bought as a squad player and to be fair to him he was a lot better than we thought before being sold for £4m which represents a profit if i'm correct on the fee

C. Davies 8m - I rate Davies, really unlucky to get two bad injuries which put him out of the first team

Cuellar 8m - Expensive but has he let us down? I'd say he's been a good signing

Heskey 5m - £3.5m flop

A. Young 12m - £9.6m. 4.5 seasons. One of our best of the Prem era and sold for almost double what we paid = great signing

L. Young 3m - £6m- Overpriced but imo a quality right back

Downing 12m- Treacherous Stewie was sold for £20m = great signing

Milner 12m - Top player and sold for double the money = great signing

Carew = Baros Faded towards the end of his spell but top scored in all but one season for us and a Holte hero =great signing

Salifou 1m - i thought this was £250k. A cheap gamble that didn't pay off

Maloney 1m - scored some important goals and sold for pretty much what we paid

Dunne 5m - still a first team regular and imo a good signing

Collins 5m - First team regular and i'd say that the majority of fans consider him a decent signing overall

Petrov 6.5m- club captain with over 200 games under his belt = good signing

The mad thing is that on the week we announced a loss of 50+ million, 6 of the 14 players that featured against Fulham on the weekend cost the club nothing, 5 of which are probably on low wages by Premier League standards. Shows that there has been some shocking financial mis-management by directors at the club.

It also suggests that McLeish is here to stay. That's you continuing your boycott from Villa Park.

You would have to ask Ad's, he was the one that said he was boycotting Villa Park while McLeish was in charge, and it wasn't even tongue in cheek.
