He is extending the truth, well as are the press as well, personally, I think we could end up with Jones.

Lambert wrote:

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has admitted being an admirer of Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe and Stoke forward Kenwyne Jones as he looks to further strengthen his squad.

But Lambert says it is a case of "wait and see" in terms of whether either will be heading to Villa Park.

Villa have been linked strongly with Defoe, who netted England's winner against Italy in Berne on Wednesday, and Trinidad and Tobago forward Jones.

When asked if interested in the pair, Lambert said: "You are talking about two really good players, different types of players there.

"I think a club this size will always be linked with players of that ilk.

"I don't think you ever stop looking for players. You have always got to try and improve.

"Whether they come in or not, we will have to wait and see but any manager will tell you, you are always going to look for players."

Can't see us getting Defoe. As for Jones he reminds me of Carew. When he's on his game he's a real player. However, it's not often enough. I'd prefer to see Crouch return if we are looking at Stoke players or Michael Owen on a 1yr deal

I think Lambert might want someone he can bring off the bench that can hold the ball up, Crouch would be a fortune.

I wouldn't want own if he only wanted 50p a week. He's past it and then it's just all about whether Owen played or not.

I think Jones is a possibility, am sure Lambert will be looking at a big striker. Jones is a good player, apparently Bent enjoyed their partnership at Sunderland, the trouble is he seems very inconsistent
