Levels of optimism are suprisingly high given its Villa worst start for 40 odd years Suspect

Possibly because some of us can see the bigger picture and see there is hope for the future with Lambert in charge. The football on Saturday was excellent, everyone is going on about the first goal and Benteke's strength, but the second goal was a superb team goal. To be fair, I dont think people are getting carried away and there is a long way to go, but I for one am more hopeful after that performance

New manager, lots of new young players who had no experience in this division = slow start. They look like they are starting to knit together as a team now and play the way Lambert wants them to, last few games have been encouraging. Get man city and Arsenal out the way and hopefully we will start to see an improvement in our league positioning over the final 2/3 of the season.

Think a Man United fan on the radio on saturday night when we were on way back summed it up perfectly. Said they had same 5;30pm kick off last season at similar stage of season. Man U won 1-0 with a Phil Jones effort, but it was the easiest 1-0 ever and the place was a morgue and Villa were shocking to watch. He said the atmosphere on Saturday was electric, Villa played excellently and f they can sustain that level of performance, would have no issues regarding relegation. Think that summed up the difference in the club compared to last season
