2015/2016

Post  Tilton on Tue Aug 04, 2015 12:03 pm

So the new season is almost upon us. Our first full season under the guidance of the man they call Gary Rowett.

We've got rid of a few players and brought a few in. Hopefully the new additions will improve us to the point whereby we can achieve automatic promotion by March. Failing that, not getting relegated would be good.

I'm a little concerned that Tomasz Kuszczak appears to be our first choice keeper for this season. He worries me a bit. I'm hoping he's going to prove me wrong though. I would have liked to see another striker added aswell because we only have 2 recognised out-and-out strikers in the squad - Big Clayton Donaldson and Wes Thomas. If anything happens to the Don were fecked, as Wes hasn't shown yet that he's up to much. Maybe Mr Rowett is working on a deal for somebody else.

Annoyingly I'm going to miss the first 3 games of the new season. I'll be watching from afar though and fully expect to us to be top of the table with 9 points on my return.

KRO

Keep that old tongue in cheek there Tilts and you won't go far wrong (nor will you be too disappointed).

I'm looking forward to this season, jpr. If we can sort out players in a couple of positions, we're gonna piss this league.

Thanks jpr, but I'm hoping we don't have to rely too heavily on 'luck' this season - we're not the viler, you know.

If new signing 'Dutch Mike' Kieftenbeld settles in quickly, that will help. He has the potential to be a massive part of our push for promotion.

Another good season for Big Clayton 'The Don' Donaldson wouldn't go amiss either. He was my 'player to watch' before the start of last season and he didn't disappoint. He finished as top scorer and cleaned up at our Player Of The Year awards. He's just signed a contract extension and should be fired up and ready to go. And he hates the viler. Good lad.

Good to see you've finally got some class in the team, eh - Jon Toral - headed goal - that's the way they learn at The Arsenal!

Unfortunately he hasn't done a lot since. He's ok, don't get me wrong, but he hasn't showed that he's anything special so far. He's young though, so a bit erratic performance-wise at the moment  but he could be a decent player one day.

Ticking along nicely
Keeping under the radar
Sitting just outside the playoffs
Ready to pounce

Leeds came to Blues in '85
Not all of them would get home alive
Five hundred injured and one lay dead
Leeds be careful where you tread

Forest away, tonight, you say?
Trent's cold water rushing by
We go once more into the fray
Keep it tight

He's been in good form lately. Scored a screamer the other week which you may have seen? Unfortunately, he got clattered last weekend and went off injured and might not bit fit for Saturday. He's been an important player for us recently so hopefully the injury isn't too serious.

Toral back in the team last night after being dropped for a couple of games when his form dipped below the required standard. He scored a good goal aswell, which turned out to be the winner. A great team performance saw off the mighty Hull Tigers and left us nicely poised for something....

Season review: Same as last season. Same points and position.

We faded badly in the final third of the season, which was a bit disappointing considering the position we'd got ourselves into. Still, we can't expect too much from a team cobbled together with free transfers and loans.

Next season we're gonna piss this league. No problem.

My Player Of The Year would probably be one of your players, jpr. Jonny Toral.

A few dips in form here and there but only to be expected. I thought that overall he had a great season and would love for us to get him back in for next season. Unfortunately, I don't think Arsenal will let us.
